You abide it. I hate you in fact can be worth coming home to, like anything built to last. I hate you may be the mythical two in the bush the bird in the hand is worth, while Don’t come home, by contrast, is that first bird, caught bird, scared to sing its song, percussive wings held fist-fast just so long.
